Do you ever find yourself exposed to negative comments?
Do individuals try and squash your dreams with their words?
Or maybe you have experienced negative comments about the way that you look?
Sometimes, it’s hard to deal with these comments. We may be lost for words, so say nothing at all or retaliate with harsh words which then lead to conflict.
If we hear the words repeatedly, we may even start to believe them. We may begin to believe that we are not ‘good enough’, ‘clever enough’ or ‘strong enough’.
We may decide that others know us better than ourselves, so deny ourselves our dreams.
Understanding the comments of others is essential.
People will put you down or try and squash your dreams because you reaching for yours, reminds them of their own. Afraid to take action, it’s easier for them to pull you down, than to rise alongside.
Alternatively, they may use their words to try to persuade you to stay in your current job, current house or life because your change may impact them.
If you dream of moving abroad, then a friend may focus on the risks because they will miss you.
An employer may try to keep you and ‘warn you’ of the opposition because they know how valuable you are to them. Without this knowledge and the tools to deflect negative statements, it’s easy to be affected by them.
If you would like to deflect these negative comments with style and a smile, then I highly recommend using a particular phrase:
“I reject your reality and substitute my own”.
It’s powerful. It will leave your ‘opponent’ stunned and confused. There will be no conflict and they really won’t know what to say! And you will find yourself walking away with a spring in your step and a grin upon your face!
